Delivery Mechanism

Both the Seminars and ICT training were delivered by a local non-profit organisation called the FSST. The FSST was created originally as a department of the municipality in Islington in 1990 as part of the first Urban Pilot Project funded under Article 10 of ERDF. In 2000 it was externalised from the municipality as a separate non-profit organisation with representatives of the municipality and the local community on its Board of Directors. Since 1990 the FSST has delivered over 50 European Social fund projects as well as many local projects and programs. Its has specialised expertise in the following:

a) Delivery of ICT training

b) Organisation of public events and seminars

c) The special requirements of socially excluded groups including the elderly

d) Understanding the needs of Islington’s very ethnically mixed population (which includes elderly people from many different nationalities and religions)

e) knowledge and experience of dealing with the special requirements of European funding, in particular record keeping and reporting.
